Featured Project Ice White House London
Short-listed for Residential lighting design of the year Lighting Awards 2010 www.lightingawards.com the most prestigious lighting awards in the world.
Final March 2010
QMC transformed this run down mock Tudor house into a contemporary state of the art modern dwelling. The five-bedroom house has a large open plan kitchen and seating area along with formal dining room, cinema room, 5 bedrooms with ensuites and an external swimming pool & tropical garden.
QMC were commissioned to design the lighting scheme. The overall property has white resin flooring throughout, white walls and white corian materials so I wanted to wash the space with light and allow for warmth and mood through the lighting scheme. I set LED lighting above the corian bespoke kitchen to wash the back walls with colour changing light, I illuminated the wine room, inset LED fittings into the water wall as well as setting lights under the floating units to cast light across the floors.
We designed lighting for the large fish tank for both day and night schemes and created a specialist scheme for the black cinema room setting lights within the seats, a fibre-optic star ceiling, LED fittings to highlight the artwork and the steps to the lower level. We bespoke designed a fibre-optic colour changing feature light with crystals that hangs through the central core of the stairs to ground level. We inset fibre-optic fittings within the floor around the bath to cast light up onto the sculptural shape of the bath.
We also designed the external lighting scheme with pool lights, water feature and colour fittings between the sculptural planting.
AV system:
We designed and managed the scheme for the AV system also and QMC installed the lighting scheme and project managed the overall works.
The entire house and the external areas are all connected to the central AV & Security control. Central audio throughout the house & garden, automated blinds, cinema room, load bearing pool cover, automated gates, mood light settings and automated sliding doors.
Lighting Effects:
QMC Lighting can create different mood effects from backlit bars and walls to bespoke feature fittings that colour change. Water walls, inset path lights, integrated lighting within furniture or joinery, stage lighting, nightclub lighting. Any space can be transformed with the use of effective lighting. Neon, Cold Cathode, Fibre-Optic and LED lighting can enhance an overall scheme and be incorporated into the overall design working with the space and materials chosen to enhance and compliment any environment. All lighting can also be linked to a control system allowing the client to be able to set scenes and control the mood of the space.
QMC design, install and manage all the works on site to ensure a quality finish and also provide an aftercare service.
